DIY Wedding Decor - Custom Letter Signs

If you want to add a unique and personalized touch to your Indian wedding decor, consider incorporating hand-painted signage. These signs can serve a variety of purposes, from being included on the welcoming guests table to being used as a photo prop. Not only do they add a personalized and charming touch, but they can also be a fun DIY project for you and your partner to tackle together.

In this article, you’ll learn how to create custom letter signage with the help of a few simple items – some of which you likely already have at home! From painting to decorating, we’ll walk you through tips and tricks to craft these letters.

Heres what you’ll need

  • Letter cutout

  • Acrylic Paint

  • Some cellophane paper

  • Tape

  • Gems (optional)

  • Glue (optional)

Step 1 - Gather your materials

I purchased these wood cutout letters at Michaels during my last haul. They come in a few different sizes and finishes so you can choose if you want the large display letters or a smaller cutout perfect for table decor.

Step 2 - Make some cones

Start by rolling your cellophane into a cone shape. I cut my cellophane into 5x7 pieces to start and roll it along the longer edge in order to achieve the perfect cone size. Once your cone is made you can fill it with the arcylic paint. To seal the cone simply roll the edges down and seal it off with some tape. Alternatively, if the thought of making a cone is too much you can use paint brushes to paint your design onto the letters.

Step 3 - Start painting your designs

Starting at one edge of the letter, decorate with floral patterns or a design of your choice.

Step 4 - Let it dry and add some sparkle

Depending on how heavy your paint application is give it some time to dry. Once dried you can add gems to give it an extra sparkle. Just use some glue to attach it onto the paint.

Incorporating DIY decor ideas into your Indian wedding can be a cost-effective way of creating a magical ambiance for your big day. From custom candles to hand-painted signage, festive garlands to floral arrangements, there are a plethora of ways to personalize your wedding and add a touch of tradition. So, why not embrace your creative side and make your special day truly unforgettable? As the saying goes, "DIY-ing your wedding decor is not only budget-friendly, it's also a great way to add your personal touch to your special day." Give it a try and see the stunning results for yourself!
