How to Create Table Decor for Your Holi Celebration

What is Holi and how is it celebrated?

Holi is on March 8th, 2023 this year. If you live in the Northeast like me its usually too cold to take the kids out and have them experience the joys of powder throwing and colored water fun.

For some background, Holi is a festival celebrated by Hindus all over the world to mark the arrival of spring. It signifies the start of all things NEW in your life, friendship, family and good over evil.

For the second craft in my series heres a tutorial on how to create some cute table decor to get into the spring spirit. You can have your little one help you cut out the designs or tape them together.

Heres what you’ll need

  • Light weight cardstock

  • Spring floral graphic

  • Cricut with fine point blade attachment OR exacto blade or scissors (whatever you cutting tool of choice is)

  • Tape

  • Cricut light grip mat if you chose to use your Cricut for this craft

  • LED tea light candle

1. Start by creating your graphic

For my graphic I’ll be using a fun spring inspired floral pattern to really welcome in all things new.

2. Cut graphic

Start by placing your cardstock on a light grip mat. Make sure its secure by pressing the cardstock firmly onto the mat. Load your mat into you cricut and cut using the fine blade attachment. Since my design is very intricate I also used some washi tape to hold my paper down.

3. Lay your design out

Have your little one help you weed your design off of the mat. you may have to use the tweezer tool to get the smaller pieces out.

4. Attach it

Align both ends of your design and attach it together at the end using glue or tape.

5. Display It

Once your finished attaching all pieces together, add a flameless candle to the center and display it.

For some added festiveness I cut a few pieces of the graphic and broke them into pieces to create confetti that I spread around the candle. You can also layer a few pieces of the design together to create a fuller look.
